The other name for 'Neuropathy' is 'Peripheral Neuropathy'. Neuropathy has been identified as one of the many common diseases that haunt the human race. In fact, 20-30 million citizens of USA are affected by Neuropathy. Neuropathy primarily affects the nerves. Neuropathy takes place whenever the peripheral nerves are weakened. Neuropathy hampers the ability of the physique to link up and interact with the tissues, organs and muscles. Whenever neuropathy takes place, the entire wiring paraphernalia of the human body gets busted. The result may be quite unpleasant sensations like dizziness, crawling, tingling, itchiness, burning, clumsiness among similar other symptoms. These symptoms can lead to numbness or even acute perennial pain.

Neuropathy affects any of the following three main portions of the peripheral nerve cells, viz., dendrites, cell body or the axons. The maximum injury is generally suffered by the axons, although all the cells may be affected simultaneously or independently. When neuropathy strikes at the root of the axons, the very unit for sending the vital signals from one nerve cell to the other nerve cells gets damaged. This happens because the central substance surrounding the nerve cells - myelin and which actually facilitates the transmission process - are affected the most.
